An ISBN (International Standard Book No.) is a necessary requirement for all the recognised book trade ordering and distribution processes, both in hard copy or e-book. Without an ISBN you are restricted almost entirely to private sales. We can issue an ISBN and barcode accordingly.
We will also register the title with the bibliographic databases run by Bowkers and Nielsen Book Data, which in turn provides booksellers (both High St and online) with the information from which they can order.
It is not actually a legal requirement for your book to have an ISBN, but it’s worth doing because it is recognised as the standard for trade ordering processes. However, you are legally required to make a copy of the title available to the UK’s 5 Copyright Libraries, which we will also arrange for you. This is not necessary if the book is only intended for private circulation.
